Vortex Rim 3D is a free retro arcade game for Android, published by Forge Development Studio; it is an original tube shooter written from scratch, not an emulator or a ROM collection, in which you slide around the rim of a neon well and shoot down sixteen lanes.

How Vortex Rim 3D plays
The doorstep pays double
- Kill something at the far end of a lane and it counts. Kill it as it reaches the rim and it pays a clutch bonus on top.
- That is the whole tension: waiting is worth more, and waiting is how you die. The safe play is always available and always worth less.
Depth is the clock
Everything climbs through five depth rings. You can read exactly how much time you have by where a threat sits. The game never hides the timer, it just dares you to use all of it.
Waves pay, clears pay more
Clearing the field pays 50 for every thing you took down, and every wave you finish pays 200 times the wave number on top.
A tube shooter, done properly
The lane-and-rim tube shooter is one of the great lost arcade shapes, and almost nobody builds them any more. This is that shape on a touchscreen: sixteen lanes, one thumb, and a rim you slide around rather than a stick you fight.

Slide around the rim, with one thumb and no buttons. Tilt is available in Settings and can be calibrated to your grip.
A high score chaser in an arcade shape almost nobody builds
You slide around the rim of a neon well and shoot down sixteen lanes while things climb them toward you. There is no widely used name for that shape — it is one of the arcade forms that never got a generic noun — so the only honest description is what it does. It is score-attack: one run, one number, and the doorstep kill is worth more than the safe one.

Three things that are true of every run
Vortex Rim 3D needs no internet connection, no account and no sign-in. It plays the same in airplane mode as it does on wifi.
The game is free, ad-supported, and every cosmetic is bought with coins earned in play. The four in-app purchases are optional.
No energy meter, no lives refill, no daily reset. When a run ends the next one starts immediately.
