Playing games on a network that blocks games
If a network blocks games, the reliable answer is not to get around the filter but to install games that never use the network at all — a game whose entire content ships in the install has nothing for a firewall to block.

This page does not tell you how to bypass a filter, and deliberately names no tools for doing so. Getting around a network you were given access to is usually a breach of its acceptable use policy and sometimes worse. The good news is that you do not need to.
Why a blocked network breaks most games
A managed network — a school, a campus, an office, a hotel, a hospital guest network — rarely blocks games by name. It blocks categories, ports and unfamiliar destinations, and game traffic falls into all three. The result on the phone is not a clean refusal, it is a game that hangs: the launcher spins, the ad never loads, the sign-in times out, and eventually a dialog appears asking you to check your connection.
The same thing happens on a captive portal, the sign-in page a hotel or a café puts in front of the internet. Until you accept the terms, every request is intercepted, and a game that assumes it is online behaves worse than one that knows it is not.
What actually works
- A game with no server. If nothing leaves the device, there is nothing for a filter to stand in front of.
- A game with no account. A sign-in is a network call, and it is the one that fails first on a restricted network.
- A game with no first-launch download. Install it and open it once on a network that works, before you need it.
- A game with no clock it has to trust. Daily rewards and energy meters check in with a server, and they fail in the most annoying way possible: silently, and then all at once.
What to do about the ads
Ads are network traffic too, so on a blocked network they usually will not load. A well-built game treats that as a non-event: the request fails, nothing waits for it, and you see fewer ads or none at all. A badly built one puts a spinner in front of you while it retries.

Test it before you rely on it

Questions about restricted and blocked networks
How can I play games on a network that blocks them?
Install games that do not use the network. A game whose whole content is in the install and whose progress is stored on the device has nothing for a filter to block, so the restriction never applies to it.
Do offline games work on school or work wifi?
Yes, and they work whether or not you are connected at all, because they do not use the connection. That is also why they are the answer that does not involve breaking an acceptable use policy.
Will a hotel captive portal stop an offline game?
No. A captive portal intercepts network requests, and an offline game does not make any. It may stop ads from loading, which means you see fewer of them.
Why does a game hang instead of just saying it is offline?
Because it is waiting for a request that is being dropped rather than refused. A filtered network often swallows traffic silently, so the game sits in a retry loop until it times out.
Is it against the rules to play games on a restricted network?
That depends on the network's own acceptable use policy, and you should read it. Nothing on this page involves getting around a filter: the whole approach is to use software that does not need the network in the first place.
